It Begins At Home
Voznesensky's love for poetry was ignited by his family, especially through his mother, Antonina Sergeevna. Boris Pasternak
Boris Pasternak was a very prominent and admirable writer of the time who served as Andrei Voznesensky's greatest poetical influence. At one time, their poems were so similar that Pasternak said he would put some of Andrei's poems in his own book!
The friendship between Pasternak and Andrei began when Andrei was just a teenager. He recalls in his memoir I Am Fourteen: “From that day on my life took on a magical meaning and a sense of destiny: his new poetry, telephone conversations, Sunday chats at his house from two to four, walks – years of happiness and childish adoration” (An Arrow in the Wall, 256-257). |
